Wasted Talent

The Forensically Talented Follower: “So… I will try to dance with that leader while his girlfriend is sitting out a tanda, and then she’ll thing that ….. …. …. , and he’ll think that ….. ….. ….., and the rest of the people will think that …. …. ….”

El Perro Milonguero: “WOW! These derivations rather belong to a forensics department! Please relax and enjoy the dance!”

Have you ever found yourself overthinking everything at a milonga?

When Things Don’t Add Up

New Leader: “It’s my first time at this milonga! I’d love to dance with all of those amazing followers!”

Amazing Followers: “NONE of us will dance with you until we see you on the dance floor…|

El Perro Milonguero: “….. something DOES NOT ADD UP here….”

Any ideas how to fix this situation?

The “I Just Got Here Argument”

El Perro has seen many things at milongas, but he was never able to figure out this one…:

Newly Arrived Follower: “I have just arrived to this milonga. Therefore, I will refuse any dance invitations…

…………. Any Leader:”Would you like to dance?”

–>Newly Arrived Follower Follower: “No. I just got here.”………

Can anyone try to explain the reasons behind this one? El Perro Milonguero is a little lost 🙂

Comfort Zone

Stubborn Leader: “I will only dance with the three followers I am used to dancing with”

El Perro Milonguero: “You will learn to accommodate to their mistakes and won’t develop your leading skills further. Make a point of dancing with at least one new follower att every milonga.”

Do you make a point of dancing with someone new each time? If not, why?

No ‘Levels’

Conservative leader: “All the followers here are below my level. I am going to just sit here with a grumpy face for the entire milonga.”

El Perro Milonguero: “Tango is NOT a video game. There are no ‘levels’. Please, smile and challenge yourself to dance with someone who has just started learning :).

Have you ever felt grumpy at a milonga? What did you do to improve your mood?

Put Your Skills to Use!

Indecisive Follower: “El Perro, how do I determine if I should agree to dance with a leader who invited me?”

El Perro Milonguero: “Are you at a milonga?”

Indecisive Follower: “Yes.”

El Perro Molonguero: “Are you in pain or not feeling well?”

Indecisive Follower: “No.”

El Perro Milonguero: “Then you should dance and PUT YOUR SKILLS TO USE! :)”

Do you have any criteria by which you determine who to dance with or when to dance?

Your Mood – Your Choice

Sad Follower: “That unskilled leader ruined my mood for the rest of the week.”

El Perro Milonguero: “YOU are the ONLY person who is in charge of YOUR mood… I am so sorry you chose to be in a bad mood this week. 😦 Have a cup of tea and come to our table!!! :):):)”

Have you ever left milonga in a bad mood? Why? What could be done to improve your mood?
